I came with a friend after spending a Thursday afternoon in Central Park to escape the NYC heat and get dinner! It was pretty lively when we got there. There weren't tables available so we chose to sit at the kitchen which was pretty cool since we got to see all the food getting made. We split the Crispy Potatoes ($16) as a starter. I ordered the Smoked Pork Ramen ($21) and a Lunar Mai Tai ($16). My friend got the Garlic Scallion Noodles ($19) and the White Peach Cosmo ($16). My friend and I both LOVED the Crispy Potatoes -- they were perfectly seasoned, had the perfect amount of crisp, and were dreamily soft inside. We even picked at the bits left over on the plate. The drinks weren't too strong but really good too! I found my ramen to be tasty and flavorful but in hindsight, it's a pretty average bowl of ramen compared to ramens I've had in the past. What won us over was the amazing service and care that Momofuku gave us. While we noticed that our food was taking a bit of a while, we didn't say anything to our server. But they noticed themselves and the gave us, along with a few other groups, a Spicy Cucumber Salad (which was also delicious) on the house! If you're exclusively looking for that perfect bowl of ramen to hit the spot, maybe look to another ramen restaurant. But if you're looking for great food, great vibes, and even greater service, this spot will really take great care of you.

The cheesy rice cakes (special appetizer in June) and 24 carrot magic juice were my favorite! The rice cake was so cheesy and smokey, very fatty and rich. My friend liked her smoked pork ramen and I enjoyed my dry noodles. However I noticed after a few bites the pickled veggies became overwhelmingly tart. Funny, I had a similar issue with feeling like they could use less pickled veggies when I had lunch next door at Bang Bar. It was a LOT of noodles and I couldn't finish it all. Cute little restaurant. It's sort of romantic with dim lighting and small booths and some bar seating. I can see it being good for a date night/couples, but there isn't a lot of space for large groups.

We were able to walk in and get a table for 2 within about 30 minutes on a weekend night. The food was all super tasty. We sat at the bar and it was a fun vibe.

The food was really good and portions reasonable. The spicy cucumber appetizer is spicy so be careful. The kimchi was really good and big enough to share. The star plate for me was the garlic chicken ramen. The chicken is favorable; mixed in the poached egg this gave the hot soup a silky texture. The best dish I have had - try it! I was grateful we were accommodated us without reservation. But the service could have been better, the waiter seemed to be super busy the he "forgot" us. Took our order longer than it should have. The ambiance was busy and loud as expected in a busy place. But great food overall.
